Another thing with wpForo Embeds - as a new user, I've still not worked out how/why a pasted URL sometimes pastes like plain text, and other times pastes like a formatted HTML link (not an embed).
Is there a simple rule of thumb to predict (and control) this behaviour?

I think I've answered my own question ! 😁
The first link that pastes as a hyperlink includes the YT channel, whereas the second link does not, and pastes as a plain text URL (and embeds correctly).
