Have purchased the plugin for this and unsure how to do it - user custom fields, I believe this is the plugin to do this, is this correct?

wait on my admin one I can do this but the forum users don't have that option is this something I have to activate?

There is a spam protection which doesn't allow new registered users to edit their account and insert lots of spam content. Users must have at least X number of approved posts to be able to edit their account. Please read the documentation here: https://wpforo.com/docs/wpforo-v2/settings/spam-protection/
The settings are located in wpForo > Settings > Spam Protection admin page.

Do you happen to know if there is a plugin available regarding posting links and it showing the info of the site (sorry don't know what that is actually called) rather than just the hyperlink?
