Hello, I installed the private messaging add on last night. Messages work. Notifications on the site work. However, email notifications are not being sent. The option is enabled in the add-on's settings. Any ideas why this might be the case? BTW, all other email notifications are working fine. I'm running the latest build of WPForo.

These email messages are not being sent when someone sends a private message. They are enabled.

@sean-callahan,

Have you checked is the User online when he gets the PM, as if the user is online then the email won't be sent(no reason to send an email when the user is online in the forum).

Or the User has muted the email notifications from the Conversation Bell Button.

Please check those cases as if the email of your website work, the PM email should work a*s well.

@kylew That I didn’t know. If a user is online an email isn’t sent. That’s not very consistent with other sites and their direct messaging. That’s where the hang up is. You might consider an Admin option to allow emails for all private messages regardless if a user is online or offline.

@sean-callahan,

wpForo sends PM notification email only if the User is not online, as there is no need to send the PM then the user is online and can see that he got an email(no need for double notification)

@kylew I agree with Sean, there should be an admin option to send emails for all private messages regardless if a user is online or not. It's too confusing and one cannot check if the user has read the message or not.

@mahi,

What you are looking for is something for you, not global needed by other users.

We can set it under consideration, but I guess it won't be implemented in the addon.
