We have wpdiscuz configured so that guests are not allowed to add comments. from what I have read on the documentation the cookie is for guests so shouldn't be set for logged in non-guests. We have noticed though that when logged in , the user's email address is set in the comment_author_email cookie. We do not want the email address to be displayed in the cookie and would like to know if we can stop this from happening.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi @david-johnson,

We're really sorry but there is no way to do this.

We may suggest check the following option:

.Keep guest commenter credentials in browser cookies for X days

The option is located in the Dashboard > Comments > wpDiscuz > Settings > Comment Form Settings admin page. If you set the value of this option 0, once you close the browser the guest Name, Email and Website information will be removed.

More info here: https://wpdiscuz.com/docs/wpdiscuz-7/plugin-settings/comment-form/#keep-guest-commenter-credentials-in-browser-cookies-for-x-days

For further support please register and open a new support topic in the wpDiscuz.com support forum. This is the gVectors support forum. Here we only support the wpDiscuz paid add-ons.

Thank you Elvina. Just to make sure that my query isn't confusing.

We are only allowing logged in users- not guests- to comment. In the case of NON-guests, is the cookie value for author_email still required to be set in the browser cookie?

Thanks

Yes, the comment_author_email is set for users(logged in) too.

Hi, thank you for the reply. Could you tell us whether that cookie is necessary for logged in user functionality?

If it is not necessary, is there an api method or otherwise we can use so it is not set?

We will only be using wpdiscuz for logged in users.

Thank you
