Comment authors are wrong since update

Hello,

I did the update and ran all of the recommended updates after the plugins updates, but now I'm finding that the comment authors are wrong. Fortunately, I don't have that many comments on the blog.

For instance, I am the site admin. Comments I left used to show the admin or post author badge under my gravatar and if I clicked the comment author info it would show how many comments I had written.

Now, every comment I left has a different @ username for user mentioning. I have a post I've left a few comments on and they are all attributed now to a different username (one (@guest_7), one (@guest_49), etc even though I'm site admin. And if I click on any one of them to bring up the comment author info popup, it says that I have 0 comments.

I've tried editing the comment, but it still attributes each one of them to a separate guest account.

Here's a post with just a few comments made by me, each attributed to a different guest @username:

And when I tried editing my email, I started getting the default guest icon I set in settings.

And, speaking of that, I set a default guest icon and it's showing in admin but not for a guest on the front of the site.

Thanks,

Cheryl

Hi,

I have looked at it both logged in and logged out. Each one of my comments is attributed to a different guest author.

Thanks

@cheryldimof,

For the comments that you mentioned, the comment authors are different because, you are not logged in when you wrote those comments.

I was logged in when I wrote all of those comments and, prior to the recent update, I was identified as the post author on the comments. The different guest usernames only occurred after the update.

Thanks

However, for new comments, it's attributing them just fine. But I cannot see any way to fix the old ones unless there's a table in the database that could be repaired with search and replace. As I said, I made those comments when I was logged in.

Thanks
