It's like a constant fraking battle with this plugin. Fighting it for two, three years now. You manage to track something down that it doesn't like, something else breaks.

Now it won't let users upload large files....i.e. phone photos with no compression. Despite being set to 64 GB and the server set to allow 64 GB and Cloudflare set to allow 64GB. Loads up smaller images just fine.

I am at the point that I'm going to take your plugin to a developer, have him or her strip the enormous amount of unused bloat out of it, and make me something that actually functions correctly without battling the d**n thing on weekly basis.

Anyone know a developer familiar with WP Discuz? I can't continue to devote 10-30 hours each month fixing this d**n thing, but the photo upload function is very important to one of my sites.

Hi @mikequinn,

Please note that almost all d**n things happen due to the cache solutions and due to other plugins you use. This addon is installed on thousands of websites, and it works fine in 99% cases. So first you should find why your website conflicting with this addon. I'm sure there are some root conflicting issues in your website, so it doesn't allow the addon to work properly.

However, I would mention one important thing. All new phones have very powerful cameras and create very heavy images. So your image sizes and resolution become too big for WEB, it becomes impossible to process and generate thumbnails from such big images. I'm sorry, but there is no solution for extremely big images and there will not be any solution in near future, because the big image processing is being done by your browser and by your server, not by the addon. Both have limits and they cannot do that. The addon cannot force them to do such tasks. We'll keep investigating and find some way to avoid this issue, but there is no a quick solution at this time.

If you need any custom work, you can contact our custom development team. They are a separate theme, but they are allowed to work on our products. You can contact them via sales[at]gvectors.com email address.

@tomson I'm on Intel Xeon Silver 4208 @ 2.1GHz (16 cores + HT) with 64 GB of Ram litespeed configured server. There's plenty of processing power available.
You can't expect most folks (especially older ones) to know how to resize their photos. And even if they do, older folks will just jump straight to a Facebook group and younger ones will just go to Reddit rather than jacking around with it.

This function was working well enough until 2-3 weeks ago...with Shortpixel running in the background to resize and compress things. I have no idea what the issue is now. I turned off WPDiscuz onboard compression, turned off Shortpixel's auto compression, and tried this fix:

https://www.toffy.com.au/wordpress-increase-image-size-threshold/

I even tried turning off Cloudflare's Proxy and turned off autominify for everything. There's no minification or JS deferment being done server/wordpress side.

WP-Cron is turned off too. It's server side every 10 minutes. So, no, my server isn't getting beat to death by traffic.

I love the h**l out of this plugin - when I'm not fighting it. We get a ton of comments and engagement that we wouldn't get without it.

If I could make it rock solid, get rid of some of the bloat from the functions I don't use (I did lighten the CSS but I don't trust my own work so I'm using stock), make it work well with most caches and minifications, and not wince when I update various plugins, I'd want to marry it.

IDK, maybe it's time to talk to your other dev team and see what they can do to make it a bit more bespoke, lighter, and a bit more solid for my particular setup (afore mentioned server, litespeed plugin with minimal caching/minification (nothing crazy like their "guest mode", cloudflare).
