Captcha image not working

I am using the WP Discuz plugin on a site and can not get the captcha image to display. I have tried disabling and reenabling all plugins and the theme itself to rule out any conflicts.

if you go to this page (like any post) you can scroll down and see this at the bottom of the page when you click "Start the discussion"

Godaddy is the host for this site and thought it maybe a permissions error, but they are saying it is not.

I have posted on the WordPress forum and haven't gotten an answer yet, so my client has to make a decision to use something else instead, however we would prefer to use what you guys have created since it is pretty awesome! We just have to get it fixed. Thanks!
