Hi Tom... hope all is well with you and the team!
I tried updating from our current version 4.0.13 to the latest release 4.0.14.
It seams we are running PHP 5.3.x and I am told that 4.0.14 would not run on it. I have been informed the server will be upgrade before the end of the year.
2 questions:
1. Is that consistent with your end that 4.0.14 is not compatible with PHP 5.3.x??
2. what might be the serious implications or challenges if we cannot update wpDiscuz for a few months?
If there are some serious issues, I may be able to get it move up the priority list.

Hi Della,
there is no PHP version depended changes in 4.0.14 version. If the 4.0.1x versions have worked on your server then the 4.0.14 will work fine as well.

Hi Tom,
In light of your response I went back we had the plugin re-installed to capture the error.
Here is what was forwarded to me about it:

After upgrading just the plugin in question, the site then throws this
errors with that plugin update in place:
> PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '[' in
> /var/www/html/pwicolab/wp-content/plugins/wpdiscuz-user-comment-mentioning/helper/mailHelper.php
> on line 29
The server is on PHP version 5.3.10. Please feel free to pass this
along to the plugin developers.
I have restored the working version of this plugin.

Have you had a chance to get any insight on error message we are getting?

Please ask your hosting service to update PHP to 5.6 or higher. 5.3 has no chance to work well with most of WP plugins and with wpDiscuz.
