Critical Error in Private Messages After Deleting a User

Hi,

we’ve encountered a reproducible issue in the Private Messages addon:

An admin exchanged private messages with a user. After this user was deleted, the Private Messages section started showing a critical error:

“There has been a critical error on your website.”

Once this happens, the affected user (admin or moderator) cannot open or send any private messages anymore. The entire PM system becomes inaccessible.

Temporary workaround:
We were able to fix it by sending a new private message to the affected staff member. Using the notification bell, they could jump directly into the new message and exit the broken chat with the deleted user. After that, the PM system worked again.

We could not reproduce this issue on our test websites. Please provide the following information so we can investigate further:

  1. How was the user deleted — from the frontend, dashboard, database, or possibly using another plugin such as Ultimate Member, etc.?
  2. php version
  3. WordPress version
  4. Database version
  5. wpForo version
  6. wpForo Private Message addon version
