How to add a hook for changing display name? i checked the wpforo section under hooks and didnt see this option. basicly what i want it to prevent users from rapidly changing their display names yet at the same time give them the option to do so should it be of huge desire. Also is there a way to add a hook for them to change the color of their name using points?

I'm sorry, but wpForo doesn't have such a hook.
I can suggest to you:
1. hide this field using CSS code.
2. don't hide this field but write an Admin note, with a warning message not to change the Display name more than 1 time
