I am able to embed videos I create and store on Amazon AWS on my regular posts. I simply insert the link and a video player pops up.

I tried putting the same link in a forum comment with wpForo Embeds activated and all I get is the link. If I click on the link, it opens the player in another tab. I would like it to display in a video box right in the forum comment.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you,

Sallie

(The picture is my husband because the account is in his name, but I'm trying to figure this out for me site. Not to be confusing! LOL!)

I read in another post here on Pre-Sales questions where someone said that the wpForo Advance Attachments Plug-in was needed in order to embed videos from an outside source. I purchased the Advanced Attachments and installed it, but when I paste a URL from my Amazon hosted video, I still only get a link, and not a player in my forum topic window.

I thought that the wpForo Embeds was going to work since I can paste a URL in a regular WordPress post and get the player in a post by using OEmbeds. I don't want to add videos to my WordPress database. That's why my video files are stored on Amazon S3.

We're also having an issue with adding attachments. Clicking on "Choose a file" brings up the upload window but it doesn't look right. Here is an example of what it looks like after I select an image:

The blue circles are areas that aren't correct. There isn't a way to select the image.

And your forum here just did that image upload correctly.

We can drop an image into the post area and it does work correctly. Then we can go into the "Choose a file" dialog and the image is available. Something isn't correct in the way this plug-in is working with our site when choosing to upload and image, but it's fine for "drop it here".

Hi @davidborrink,

Thank you for your purchase and for contacting us.

I tried putting the same link in a forum comment with wpForo Embeds activated and all I get is the link. If I click on the link, it opens the player in another tab. I would like it to display in a video box right in the forum comment.

Please navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Addon > Embeds admin page, make sure the "oEmbed Functions" is enabled, then delete all caches and check again.

The wpForo Embeds addon is designed as a core post content replacer. It checks content provider URLs and replaces to content provider view (video, audio players, social network widgets, etc..).

wpForo Embeds is a 3rd party URL (Youtube, Soundcloud, etc.) embed-er addon.

wpForo Advanced Attachments is a file attachment plugin. It allows attaching multiple files, images, videos, audio and all other file types you’ve allowed in settings.

Please open a new support topic in the inwpForo Advanced Attachments  forum and leave your forum URL to allow us to check it.

I've done all of this and the video still shows as a link - no video. This is really frustrating since the links automatically generate a video player in a regular WordPress post, but in this forum they won't - even with paid plugins. This was one of the key reasons I wanted to set up the private forum - to add videos I make and put them behind a password.

Is there really no way to store the videos on Amazon S3 and have them play? Surely when so many people are using Amazon S3 to store downloads, videos, etc. there must be a way to make this work.

Thank you!

ok @davidborrink,

Please wait a bit. We're going to check the issue. I'll update the topic asap.
