I have some questions.

1. I added a tag when writing a post. However, the topic was not automatically tagged. Aren't tags automatically created?

2. (Assuming that tags are not automatically generated), I manually added tags to the topic. However, after modifying the post and updating it, all tags in the topic disappear. Is this a normal operation? If not, what is the solution to this problem? If it is a normal operation, the tag of the topic will always be erased. This is too uncomfortable.

For your information, I have set the topic to be automatically modified when modifying the post, and I will continue to use it like that.

3. (Refer to the image) I saw Topic Title prefix while writing the post. How do you use this? I understood this as 'wpForo Topic Prefix & Tags Manager', but I don't know how to use it. Please tell me how to use it.

Thank you.

wpForo Forum posts and WordPress Blog Posts tags are different taxonomies, and they cannot be cross-posted.

Tags are automatically generated when you create topics in the forum. Again, WordPress tags don't have any relation to Topic Tags, even if you create them manually they'll not be passed to each other

Please note that this is not the topic prefix, this is an extra field to add an extra phrase before the cross-posted topic, so the topic title could be different from the WordPress post title for better SEO.

Hi @kylew

If I understand your answer, I understand that the post tag and the tag of topic are not related to each other. If these have nothing to do with each other, why is all the tags in the topic deleted if I modify the blog post? Now, I tested this again, but I got the same result.
In your words, this should not affect each other at all.

It also affects 'wpForoTopicPrefix & Tags Manager'. I added Topic Prefix to the topic and checked that it was displayed. However, when I update my blog post, it all disappears. So I had to add Topic Prefix to the topic again.

In other words, it seems to be showing the same problem as the tag mentioned above.

Is there anything I'm missing?

@tayo,

Yes, they don't have any relation to each other. WP Post tags are WP taxonomies, but the topic tags are a separate item stored in forum tags table. They are not connected. The tags could be removed because they don't have any relation to each other. Again, the field you're showing on the screenshot is not the topic prefix.

Oh, no!
Tags should not be deleted. As you know, wpforo topic's related topics automatically show related topics using the same tag.
If the tag is deleted, this useful function becomes useless.
If wpforo's tag has this function, this is a matter of full consideration.
This is a considerable concern for managers who use tags usefully.
So I think this should be fixed.
I know that. The way to solve this now is that I should never modify my blog post. However, it is an impossible mission. As you know,

@tayo,

I was talking about the WordPress posts tags. The topic tags can only be added using topic editor, and they can be deleted when the last topic connected to that tag is deleted. In other words, there should not be a way to delete a forum topic tag from the WordPress Post Editing screen. You should not worry about that.

Well, I don't think it's what I asked. Let me explain it again.

1. I wrote a wordpress post (add a tag - ex:mytag, yourtag)
2. Automatically creates topics using cross-plugin.
3. There is no tag in the created topic. I understand that it is not related to the wordpress tag. So, I modified the topic. And add topic tag (ex:mytopictag, yourtopictag)
4. I checked that the tag of the topic and the tag of the word press post are registered normally.
5. I modify the contents or title of the word press post.
6. I checked that the contents and title of the topic were edited the same due to cross-plugin.
7. (Now there's a problem. This is the question I ask) The tag of the topic disappeared, that is, mytopictag, yourtopictag has been deleted.
8. To confirm, click the edit button of the topic. As expected, the tag on the topic has been deleted.
9. So, I added the tag of the topic again. Registered normally.
10. I modify the contents or title of the word press post again. As expected, the tag of the topic is deleted again.

In conclusion, if I modify the content, title, and others of the wordpress post, the tag of the topic is deleted.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Thank you

I'm glad you know my problem now.
Now that you've clearly understood this problem, I'm going to talk about one more thing. This is because, in my personal opinion, I think it is the same issue as this one.

This causes the same problem not only for the tag of the topic but also for the prefix of the topic. To explain it in detail,

1. After setting the prefix in the topic, modify the wordpress post.
2. The prefix of the topic has been deleted.

I guess this will be solved if you solve the problem of topic tags.
Can you check this out, too?
Thank you.

For your information, this refers to the wpforo Topic Prefix & Tags Manager addon.
