Please consider adding a per forum attachment permission set that will override the main WPForo/ WP user set.

Hi Citizen K,

All permissions which related to forums are forum specific. It seems you're not familiar with Forum Access system. Please read the documentation:

https://wpforo.com/docs/root/wpforo-settings/forum-accesses/

You can create new Forum Access and set to Registered Usergroup per forum. Each forum has own set of Usergroup - Forum Access permissions:

I am familiar with it thank you.

But, WP/WPforo usergroups are a blunt instrument as it does not offer a granular permission set. Just for starters, there is no facility for users to belong to multi usergroups.

Likewise the Forum Access system, a blunt one size fits all forums system.

Example: You create a forum, let's call it "Off Topic", you want all members to be able to access and participate in it , the only facility you want disabled is the ability use the attachment system in this particular forum lest your server be flooded with memes and "calendar girls". It's not possible to  do this with either the usergroup system or the forum access system.

It would be easier if the Gvectors Advanced Attachment system had a per forum permission override.

You can do that for sure. You just need to have two usergroups:

  • Advanced Users (Allowed to attach files)
  • Regular Users (Don't allowed to attach files)

Then create two forum Accesses:

  • Standard + attachment + access to forum
  • Standard + no attachment + access to forum

Edit the forum and set according Accesses for according Usergroups:

  • Advanced Users > Standard + attachment + access to forum
  • Regular Users > Standard + no attachment + access to forum

You can do almost everything with Usergroup and Forum Accesses. You just need to spend more time. And I'm sorry but the addon don't have own permission system, We're not planning to add separate permission system for each feature separately. Once the Multi-usergroup will be available all will be easier with the same Usergroup+Forum Access setings
