Hey there,

I am writing to you because I need some information on the cookie your plugin creates. I need it for my cookie control settings to be GDPR compliant and I hope you can help me with it.

The things I would like to know:

  • What exactly does the cookie do, what is its purpose, what is it used for?
  • At what time does the cookie expire?
  • What is the name of the cookie as shown in the browser when clicking on all cookies a site uses.
  • What is the <script> code you use to implement the cookie?

Best wishes and thanks for your help!

Thanks for your answer. That sounds like the cookies are just for guests but I found them logged in as well. That is kind of confusing.

Also, the plugin sets another cookie which is not mentioned in the documentation: wpdiscuz_last_visit.

Please don't worry about it. You can simply disable the "Highlight Unread Comments" option.
The option is located in the Dashboard > Comments > Settings > Comment List admin page.

I tried the settings for cookie expiry, but they don't work, they are always set to never expire. (-1 day)

@johannes

We've just checked it on our test website and don't find such an issue. Could you please set the value of Keep guest commentator credentials in browser cookies for x days" to 0, save it and check again.
