In your demo site - all the GIFs are moving. My site has no problem displaying other animate GIF files. When I upload a GIF i see the tiny preview window animating. Once i submit the image appears as a still frame only. Upon clicking the lightbox appears and the GIF animates. Something to do with image scaling I'm sure but would like to know what the demo settings are.

Cheers,

Adam

I did seem to resolve this if anyone else has the issue - Under WP Settings>Media I change my thumbnail size to 900 / 0 - It allows enough room for most GIFs. My thumb was set at 150 and the GIF was 200.

YAY!

Hi Adam,

Thank you for sharing this information. The main idea to not allow WordPress crop GIF image, it affects all animations.

Hi, so I'm having the same issue where I can't upload a gif using advanced attachments and have it automatically show up as animated. I've used the settings described above to no avail. Also, I understand large sizes will get scaled down, but it's also scaling smaller ones up. Anyway to avoid this?

@meibukan76,

The GIF should animate when you open it. The thumbnail cannot be animated.

@tomson Okay, understood about the thumbnail. The gifs are not animating when opened. They are also being resized. Not sure what's going on.

@meibukan76,

As it says you should using this "Code Snippets" plugin. Or just put it in the functions.php file of current active WordPress theme.
