As soon as I active wpdiscuz my server load goes up, up and away to the point of 503 errors across the site. I am not on a shared hosting plan either. I have adequate resources on the server. Please help.

What is your PHP version on hosting server?
Please delete wpDiscuz, then search and install it again. i think plugin files are damaged.
