Increasingly I'm finding on a daily basis, I'm being restricted in my admin/moderation duties, due to the lack of fundamental forum tools.

  • Delete Topic
  • Split Topic
  • Merge Topic
  • Move Post

I cannot believe I'm the only admin/moderator of a busy wpforo forum, that finds the lack of these tools a problem.

For example deleting a topic is not a simple task and has the potential to screw things up, if you don't do it right.

If you want to delete a topic you MUST start by deleting the last post of that topic first, then work your way up the topic until the last post you delete is the first post. Failure to do it in this order will leave a zombie topic in the forum section. That means folk will think the topic is still there but when clicked on, it returns a "404" error.

If you find yourself in this predicament the only course of action is to go into the Db find the "wp_wpforo_topics" table and manually remove the zombie topic entry from the table. This is far from ideal.

Equally the lack of "Split Topic", "Merge Topic" and "Move Post" is a daily pain that I face. All can be circumvented manually by manipulating the Db and shuffling posts around but its less than ideal, time consuming and I imagine a daunting prospect for many who are not comfortable with Db's.

Please don't get me wrong I think the wpforo forum software is wonderful, equally the Gvectors team are outstanding and have really gone out of their way to resolve problems I had when I moved over from a simple:Press forum. However if it were not of these superb qualities, the lack of admin tools in any other platform would have sent me looking for another forum package.

Can I please ask/beg that the Gvectors team expedite a solution to address the lack of these tools. I'm more than happy to pay for an extended admin/moderator "Addon". In fact it probably makes sense to your business model to have this as an Addon and not part of the free module.

As I say wpforo is excellent its just as an admin/moderator on a busy forum I'm increasingly finding my hands tied due to the lack of what I consider fundamental tool. Please untie my hands.

Hi radiostv

Please note, you're using relatively new forum platform, it's on 1.4.x stage of development. We've already added hundreds of features. It grows very fast. So please be patient. We're getting hundreds of new feature requests every day.

  • Merge Topic
  • Move Post

These two features are already under development and will be available soon. Probably by end of this month or first half of next month.

This is not correct. You just need to click on the Delete button of the first post of a Topic on forum front-end. This will delete all posts. I don't understand why you make this simple action so problem full.

Hi Tom,

Appreciate the reply and I very much understand its a new forum. Sorry if my post came across as criticism, I took great care to ensure it wasn't as that was surely not my intention. I'm a huge fan of wpforo and your team.

Glad to hear the merge and move are on the horizon, hope split is not too far off in the plans as well. I will certainly be patient.

OK that must be my bad or a problem local to me, I certainly had an issue where the first post was deleted and the topic did not go which I why I had to take the action I did.

Regards
Chris
