Description
This addon integrates your wpForo forum with Paid Memberships Pro plugin. This is a powerful combo to create a membership forum and control your member’s access to categories and forums.
As it’s said in the plugin page: “Paid Memberships Pro is a complete solution to secure your content and create a seamless membership experience on WordPress”. And all the features of this plugin are integrated with wpForo forum plugin.
Restricting Categories and Forums
Restricting a forum will prevent non-members from seeing any of the forum’s topics. You should individually restrict each forum that you want to hide from non-members; you cannot do this by restricting a parent forum (category), as restrictions won’t be inherited. However, the restriction will affect the all topics of the forum.
The forum access restriction is based on users’ Membership Levels. You can grant different forum access to each membership level in Dashboard > wpForo > Forums admin page by editing any forum you want, as it shown on the screenshot below:
For example, you can let members with Standard Membership Level only read the topics and posts of certain forum by setting [Read Only] access to that plan. As well as you can grant [Standard Access] to Premium Membership Level allowing users with this membership level to read topics, create new topics and reply to that topics.
You can create custom forum accesses with any set of permissions in Dashboard > wpForo > Forum Accesses admin page, then use that forum accesses to grant to different Membership Levels.
Forum Accesses by Membership Levels vs wpForo Usergroups
By default, forum accesses are granted to Usergroups. Each Usergroup has its forum access settings in the Forum Permissions admin section located on the right sidebar of the forum editing screen. If you want to manage forum access based on Membership Levels, we recommend setting [No Access] for all Usergroups except Admins and Moderators. Membership Levels takes precedence over Usergroup restrictions. Therefore, regardless of Usergroup restrictions, all users with access to a forum through a Membership Level will be able to access the forum and its topics. So, you can confidently set [No Access] for all non-admin and non-moderator Usergroups and not worry about whether users in those usergroups with a Membership Level will be able to access the forum. The Membership Level will grant them access as you’ve configured it, even if the usergroup has [No Access] to that forum.
Installation and Configuration
First make sure the Paid Memberships Pro plugin is installed, activated and Membership Levels are created.
Then install the wpForo – Paid Memberships Pro Integration addon:
If for some reason you cannot install this plugin using WordPress plugin upload system, please do that with this alternative way. Unzip, and then upload the /wpforo-paid-membership-pro/ folder to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory using an FTP application like FileZilla; or any other FTP program is fine also. Make sure you have not double /wpforo-paid-membership-pro/wpforo-paid-membership-pro/ directories nested inside each other, please correct this before you continue. Then go to WordPress Dashboard > Plugins, and then activate the wpForo – Paid Memberships Pro Integration addon.

Hi, is there an option to make the answer/reply to a question/post private or unseen to some usergroups? Which means others can only see the question or post, but cannot see the answer or reply (one or all) unless they purchase and belongs to special usergroups.
Yes, sure,
You can configure this by adjusting the “Can view reply” forum access settings. Grant forum access to one usergroup with the “CAN” option enabled, while disabling it for the forum access granted for the second one.
hi, I want to enable for users to register and pay for a monthly and/or yearly subscription in order to access this forum along with providing discounts to products in my WooCommerce. Is this the right plugin?

can paidmembershipspro (free) be used with wpForo – Paid Memberships Pro Integration?
Thanks
Hi,
Thank you for your interest in the wpForo – Paid Memberships Pro Integration addon.
Yes it can.
thanks… one more concept:
wpForo has completely separated “login” from WordPress. I see that is good and/or bad. it depends on the goal of the website 🙂
So, question: is wpForo “able” to use WordPress user management?
Here is my situation:
1) On website we want to use:
– wpForo = it looks great for handling the forums
– we need a private page/forum (ie. not open to be seen from public, must pay to see )
– we will charge members for using the private wpForo forums AND this is part of the company’s annual fee
– we want the whole website, forums, payment, user management to be “simple” = only 1 login to manage user, payment, and access to private wpForo forums ==> ie. NOT multiple logins.
2) what is your recommendation to handle all of #1 above?
how or what software to use?
thank you
wpForo does not feature its own user management system. Instead, user registration and account creation are handled through WordPress. wpForo solely provides the form interface for these functionalities.
