wpDiscuz Comment Search Features

Installation and Configuration

  • This addon installs like any other plugin for WordPress.
    Access to wpDiscuz Comment Search is provided immediately after you’ve paid for your order. Upon completing registration/checkout, you may log in at gVectors.com. We will also send you an email after registration/checkout, with a link to the login page. Then download the installation package.
  • Navigate to Dashboard > Plugins > Add New admin page and upload addon ZIP file, then activate it.
  • Once the plugin is active, go to Dashboard > wpDiscuz > Settings > Addons Tab > Comment Search subTab to begin configuration.
  • It’ll ask you to activate with license key you got via email or in your account page, just insert the key and activate it.

 

If for some reason you cannot install this plugin using WordPress plugin upload system please do that with this alternative way. Unzip, and then upload the /wpdiscuz-comment-search/ folder to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory using an FTP application like FileZilla; or any other FTP program is fine also. Make sure you have not double /wpdiscuz-comment-search/wpdiscuz-comment-search/ directories nested inside each other, please correct this before you continue. Then in WordPress, go to WordPress Dashboard > Plugins, and then activate the wpDiscuz Comment Search addon.

Hello, thank you for your wonderful and free wpDiscuz plugin. I’m still testing it at my staging site but so far very impressed, very pleased 👍 I have two Questions regarding this search add-on feature: Q1) will the search include comments at other pages/posts or only the specific page/post on which the search box in located? Ie, is the search site-wide? Q2) Also how are the results displayed, a list? on a separate page? or? Sorry if I missed that screenshot. Thanks in advance!

The search button above the comment list searches only for the current post. However, the “Comment Search” Widget comes with sitewide comment searching. In other words, the addons provides both options.

It starts searching while you type search words. And it shows the result without page loading and changes those according to your typed words.

Can I list comments with this plugin? Or is there another plugin for it? I would like to display the last or all comments on a page with the help of a shortcode.

We’re really sorry, but neither wpDiscuz nor wpDiscuz Comment Search addon has such a feature. You can use some additional plugin. I’ve found the following one, please check it: https://wordpress.org/plugins/show-all-comments-in-one-page/

If using a custom comments form in wpDiscuz with a custom meta key does this add on allow searches to include the meta key? Can this search the title of the comment as well as the content? Thank you.

How does the LIcense pricing apply to a multisite with one domain but wildcarded such a *.onedomain.com?

If each wildcard is considered a sub-site, how do we purchase more than 10 Site Licenses?

Can we use this or any other add-on to sort comments? Also would it be possible to create sort links on the page? Maybe a deeplink url for search terms?

wpDiscuz plugin has comment sorting links without any addon. please find those in Subscription bar under the main comment form (newest, oldest, most voted) on wpDiscuz Demo page: http://wpdiscuz.com/demo/

– All comment (Autho of post) that i haven’t reply yet
– All comment haven’t reply to me yet (commenter)

This is a post > comments specific search solution. It’s not general. However there is a Comment Search widget in this addon which allows you do a general search. We may add such functions in widget search but I can’t promise yet. We’ll take this under consideration.

We’re preparing wpDiscuz Comment Search 1.0.2 version. It’ll be released this week. It comes with statewide comment search widget. You’ll be able to search in all comments.
