Hi:

I added the addon for WooCommerce Membership and everything is fine.

In Woo Membership I have limited access to forums and topics.

But when a user creates a new topic (there is no moderation), it is published but not added to the membership.

I have to go to moderate, published and click on content restriction for the membership protected icon to appear.

What should I do to make this automatic and not leave the topics open?

Thanks you.

Hi @raul-gonzalez,

The topics inherit membership access restriction from their forums. So you should configure the membership access restriction for the forum. They should not be added to the membership, there is no such point here.

If you have configured the "X Forum" only accessible to users with "X membership", then all topics created in the "X Forum" are automatically protected and only accessible for users with "X Membership", you don't have to add each topic to membership.

The topic specific membership is only designed if the forum is not supposed to be under a membership access restriction, so you only want one or two topic in the forum restrict access to embers. This is a manual process and cannot be automatic. So you should go for forum level access control and set membership access restriction for the forums not for the topics.

Make sure you've configured the membership access restriction for each forum in the parent-child hierarchy:

  • X Parent Forum
    • X Child Forum

You should configure membership access for X Child Forum to make all topics of the X Child Forum only visible for that membership plan.

Also, please note that the membership access restriction is configured in these ways:

  • Can view forum titles  but cannot enter the forum
  • Can enter forum, can view topic titles but cannot enter the topics
  • Can enter forum, can not view topic titles and cannot enter topics

Hi

woo memberships
forums

again:

I attach screenshots.

Membership is set up for the parent and child forum.

On Woo Membership I have limited the content to forums and discussions.

The last bit about access restriction makes no sense, because when you manually add the membership you do have access.

What else can you look at?

Thank you.

@raul-gonzalez,

I'm really sorry but I cannot follow you. We'd need admin access to understand what are you looking for and what have you done whith the plugin configuration. I don't think you've configured all correctly and i don't understand why you put topics to membership if they are already under the forum which is protected by the membership access restriction.

You can PM me the admin access and provide examples (topic, membership, access issue, etc..)

Hi:

Shouldn't I block access in the WooCommerce Membership plugin if I have already configured it in the forum plugin?

I didn't see that information on this page -> https://gvectors.com/product/wpforo-woocommerce-memberships/

I thought both tasks had to be done...

Hi @raul-gonzalez,

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, you should not do any extra action in WooCommerce Membership plugin. You should only configure access restriction in wpForo > Forums > Edit forum screen of each forum.

If each forum is configured for certain membership plan then it's already ok. Only users with that membership plan will be able to see the forums and topics in that forum.

In addition we recommend set "No Access" to all non-admin and non-moderator usergroups in the default permission section of each forum to restrict other accesses to that forums.

Hi:

Don't worry, I solved the problem.

The problem was that I was closing the community page (forum page) with the membership plugin.

It was duplicating membership access.

I have blocked the community page and this blocks access to everything, so I don't need the plugin.

Thank you so much.
