Is it possible to add a custom field to the admin approval email for user registrations?

I have a custom serial number field on the registration form that needs to be verified before a user is approved. The easiest way would be to have that information attached to the email that is sent for approval.

If that is not possible, what is the quickest way to check the custom field before approving the user?

There doesn't seem to be a quick way to view it. And because it's a private serial number I don't want other users to see the field, only moderators and admins.

Can you help please?

Thanks.

Hi @geoff,

Sorry for the late response,

wpForo UCF addon adds Custom Fields for the User Profile, not for the email.

You can manage the Email Templates from Dashboard > wpForo > Settings > Email Settings and Subscriptions & Mentioning.

Hi @kylew

Thanks for getting back to me.

I am using email settings for customizing the email notifications, but I need to use one of the UCF fields to manually authenticate a user before they are approved, so it would be nice if those fields could be added to the body of a notification.

It seems a lot of people are looking for a feature like this for manually approving users when they sign up, hence why we need a custom field in the registration process. But if there is no easy way for an admin to view the custom field before approving the user then it makes the whole situation much more difficult.

Is this possible at all? Do you have a suggestion on how to achieve this?

@geoff,

Sorry for a wrong Info with UCF.

You can add your custom fields in the email, with shortcodes.

Open the custom field that you have created and check its Field Name. Example: field_0e98362. You can edit it what you want and save.

Use the field name to insert it in the email template.

Example: [user_field_0e98362]

Thank you so much for your reply! I can confirm that inserting a shortcode with "user_" in front of the fields works to populate the automatic new user registration email.

I couldn't see this in the user manual anywhere, but I'm happy this works!

Thanks! I was looking in the Custom Fields forum, not the main wpForo forum.

Much appreciated!
