Hi, I've been using wpForo as a replacement on a site for SMF - works really well and added the messaging add-on on a test site for now.

When I go to add a message the editor does not display - I get a loading icon and nothing else.

Looking at related issues in the support forum its likely a conflict on editors setting in WordPress. it looks like its a conflict with our Website Builder ( https://colibriwp.com/) as when I disable this it displays fine. However I can't disable that plugin as the whole site is built using it....!

So I'm hoping you can help debug this a little more and find a solution.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi @mark-hunt,

Can you provide admin access to your website, need to check the builder settings, and the conflict with the PM addon. You can send the admin credentials and your website URL to me with PM.

@kylew Hi Kyle did you get those details ok?

If it also helps I notice that I'm not seeing any rich editing controls in the post reply form either...? Suspect this is related?

Thanks for your help

Hi @mark-hunt,

we have checked the builder. And found that they have disabled the TinyMCE functions and we can't do anything there.

The only way would be that you write the builders support and ask them to fix/change from their codes.

Thanks for your help here, couple more questions...

The Forum editor works ok (albeit missing the format buttons etc which I'm sure is part of the same editor conflict issue) but if it works for the forum editor how come it doesn't for the messaging extension?

What's different? and maybe for now I can configure them the same so at least the messaging extension works up to a point while I investigate more in-depth? Is that possible?

Thanks,

Mark

@mark-hunt,

We have tried to write a code that would call the PM editor JS, but unfortunately, nothing worked.

We don't know the main reason why the Forum editors JS are available but the PM not, but it's all about the Builders codes which block the JS in some places and doesn't block in other places.

@kylew Hi Kyle,

Could we just explore this a little bit further... I've been doing a bit more analysis and in the wpforo PM page when I click the Write PM button I get in the console:

Uncaught ReferenceError: tinyMCE is not defined
at HTMLLIElement.<anonymous> (pm.js?ver=3.0.1:123:9)
at HTMLLIElement.dispatch (jquery.min.js?ver=3.6.1:2:43064)
at y.handle (jquery.min.js?ver=3.6.1:2:41048)

So either:

My Wordpress install has some issue with how TinyMCE is setup?

- are there any details you can share so that I can check how Wpforo expects TinyMCE to be setup/configured in WP?

Or, my Web Builder has somehow disabled TinyMCE (I can't see that btw and in fact they use it as well) and even if that was the case couldn't we just reload it when the PM session starts?

What exactly is preventing TinyMCE from being loaded?

I know you may have tried some approaches here but I'm pretty convinced we can fix this if we just dig a little deeper.

Thanks for all your help so far... just need a little more!

Mark

@mark-hunt,

This is a little hard moment, we will need the builder that you are using, to create the issue in a localhost server, so we could do deep debug, and see what can do with it.

@kylew

I use Colibri Pro...  https://colibriwp.com/  Its actually one of the best web builders I've used. I'm hoping you can take a deeper look.

Thanks again for your help.

@mark-hunt,

The builder is with membership, that's why I'm asking for the files/plugin(however it installs in the Website) of the builder from you, so we can use it in a local host.
