when I embed a youtube video in a post, all that shows up is a big blank space. If you click on the space, it will play the video but no image shows in the post.

 Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Here’s a link to a post. https://awakening-together.org/community/music-and-media-forum/test-post-for-youtube-posting/

It shows up fine in the preview but when I post, nothing. I tried another video and it did the same thing.

Thanks.

@agnes-mitchkoski,

It works fine in our case, please watch the following video:

Please specify where exactly you've faced with the issue. Probably this is a device-specific issue.

@astghik

Well, all I have is apple products, none of which will play that video. When I first purchased this add on, it worked fine... on my apple devices. Now it does not. I can link the video to text which I guess will have to do but that is not what I did in the past. Disappointing....

@agnes-mitchkoski,

If I understand you correctly the issue happens only on the apple products, right? If so, please let us check the issue. We'll try to find the reason for the issue asap.

@agnes-mitchkoski,

Please check this topic: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250674461

It seems there is an option that should be enabled.

This is still an issue in Safari on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. YouTube videos works fine in Firefox and Chrome but doesn't display in Safari.

This is only an issue with WPForo forums. YouTube videos embedded in WordPress posts and other websites works fine.

I've got this problem as well. Videos were displaying OK until I upgraded

I've tested with Edge, Firefox and chrome.... None display the video.

And yes youtube embeds work on my blog, its only wpforo that's a problem and it was fine until I upgraded. Wish I had not bothered now!

Not sure if this sheds some light on the problem.

Via the embeds settings page I changed the embed video player size from width 480px x Height 320px to be both 0. Set this option value to 0 if you want to set width/height "AUTO"

Now the video appears in the thread but as a letterbox shape.

example

I tried setting it to custom 100 x 100 and again nothing appeared in the thread just a empty space. I've set it back to 0 for auto width and height so at least something appears.

I hope this demonstrates it looks like a wpforo or embed plugin bug. As is say it was OK until I upgraded today.

Fixed mine.

It was a conflict with the blogs youtube embed plugin. Once I removed that did not require auto size but the youtube video still appeared weirdly stretched as above. I then set wpforo embed plugin option "Oembed" to enabled. Hey presto its all working as before.
