The plugin is called, Videopack (formerly Video Embed & Thumbnail Generator). It can be found at... https://wordpress.org/plugins/video-embed-thumbnail-generator/

As the name implies, the plugin uses FFMPEG to create a thumbnail in the form of a jpg file for any video file uploaded to the Wordpress media library.

The plugin requires classic editor, the Add Media button is necessary, in order to access the Wordpress media library.

Is there a way for wpForo with advanced attachments to use the classic editor?

Hi @gary-yates,

I will submit the plugin integration for review by our development team.

wpForo uses TinyMCE core functionality, and it is not compatible with other WordPress editor plugins, because it works with a different logic, etc.

Thanks, Kyle. I've used this plugin for years and it worked perfectly with the original/classic editor. I've only had to use the Classic Editor plugin since WP switch to the block editor.

I believe another problem I'm going to run into is that wpForo stores and calls media from a different location than WP and the thumbnail plugin uses. They both use the media library. Is there any functionality in wpForo that would allow me to use the WP media library instead of the attachments folder?

I would appreciate any help on this front.

You can enable the Insert Forum Attachments to Media Library button from Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Features Tab.

This option will let you manage forum attachments in Dashboard > Media > Library admin page.

Thanks, Kyle! That worked perfectly. That solved one of my problems. Have you heard back from the development team yet?

@gary-yates, The development team is working on a huge update release at now and these will take a long time for them.

For most of our users, the functionality is not needed, We are really sorry, but it may not be implemented.
