I have a theme that has a "section" area, but there's no option for adding comments natively, so I'm looking for other embeddable options, but prefer self-hosted ones.

We don't follow you well, please try to explain in other words.

In case if you want to display the comment form in the "section" area, you need to use a shortcode.

Thanks for the reply, and apologies for the confusion. Yes, I think you understood what I needed. I'm trying to add a comment form where there isn't one in my theme. Unfortunately I've tried following the explanation at the link provided, but no luck so far. I will continue to play around though.
