I prefer my users posts to go directly online with out requiring "approval" to be posted.

Please navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Tools admin page, turn of the Spam Control and set 0 the New Registered user level.
Also make sure the Registered Usergroup's "Can pass moderation" permission is checked/enabled in Dashboard > Forums > Usergroups > Registered admin page.
