usergroup
access settings

To Whom It May Concern,

I have a user who is in a usergroup called "Peak Insiders".  Under the usergroup settings, all settings are enabled EXCEPT:

  • All the dashboard settings
  • Front - can view member email

However, the user is getting the following error message when trying to access private messages:

You are not allowed to write a message yet.

I have two questions:

  1. What triggers this message?
  2. How do I customize it?  I cannot find it by searching the phrases section.

Thanks for your help.

Update - I was able to customize the message by rebuilding the phrases and clearing the cache, but I still require help figuring out why this user can't send PM's.  Thanks!

Hi @aaron-mckeon,

Please go to Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Addons Tab > Private Messages, and check Min number of forum posts user must have option.

This option is for preventing spam users to send PM's, however if you set it to 0 all user who have Front - Can write PM option enabled for their usergroup, can send PM's

@kylew Hi Kyle - This seems to have fixed the issue with not being allowed to send a PM, but now I'm having another issue where it just spins and spins and the user can't actually write.  See screenshot.  Any ideas?  Thanks again.

@aaron-mckeon,

It should be a JS error, in your website check browser Console Log there you should see a JS error.

Also provide us your Forum URL, we will check as well.
