Hi,
I've seen multiple examples of Private Message Notifications (emails) going to users other than the people who either originated or replied to the Private Message (ie they aren't Private!).
I've received notifications so I can see their private conversation and I have reports from other users of the same happening.
Has this been reported and any ideas for how I diagnose this?
I'm using Wordpress v6.5.5, Wpforo v2.3.4 and Private Message Ext v3.1.1

Hi Mark,
This is designed to work in this way. No issues are found here. The restriction is in place to prevent potential damage to the email SMTP service in case of spam activity. If messages were sent to all members of a registered user group, it could overload the SMTP service.
Hi thanks for the reply, maybe I've not been clear... the only people who should get notification of a Private Message are the 2 people having that conversation.
What I'm saying is that other people outside those 2 people are seeing notification which contains the Private Message (ie its no longer Private!).
For example I am getting notification of Private Messages that I am not involved in. That's an issue surely?
Does that clarify?

The wpForo Private Message addon doesn't have such an issue.
It would be better if you could record a video demonstrating the issue for better clarity.

@astgh well... actually it does!
When a PM is send, I as administrator also receive a copy/message about the PM.
I've seen my other admins opening those PM's by mistake thinking they were directed to them when they were in a bit of a hurry.
Perhaps @mark-hunt is aiming at that weird behaviour of the PM add-on which needs fixing (or turned into an setting which is by default disabled) and which has been pointed out here in the support forums before.
@astgh I'll get to you on that - probably with screenshots to have better control to blur personal data. Will become towards the end of next week I reckon as I'll be away for a couple of days.
But in essence here is what happens:
User A PM's User B
The PM is send to User B, but also to me as Admin
@steven-goos This is exactly how I noted the issue I as admin was copied on the PM message notifications (by email), BUT I have now been notified that other users (non-admins) also received the same notification with the private message - so I think the issue is bigger than just admin seeing them.
I will also compile some edit screenshots to show the issue quite clearly.
Give me a day or two.
