Hi, we are not receiving any email notifications for subscribed private messages. We are using an smtp server rather than the standard php mailer so I don't know if that might be an issue; however, email notifications from wpforo itself are working without issue.
Any recommendations on what I can do would be most appreciated.

Sorry for late response,
1. Check is Email Notification option enabled from Dashboard > Forums Settings > Addons > Private Messages Tab.
2. Users can turn off their email notification from Profile Page > Messages Tab > Notification Bell.
3. Users get notification if they're not online at the moment, someone sends them an PM.
Thank-you for the clarification it seems it was because the user was logged in at the time.
