When I try to embed a YouTube video which starts at a particular time, the embedded video ignores (or I think strips the &t=nnn) and always starts the beginning. How can I embed the video so that it respects the start at time?

Hi @vipinmalik,

Yes, this is designed to work in this way. Currently, there is no option for this.

We'll take into consideration for future releases.

Ok thanks. Can I post the direct link to YouTube in my post without it embedding the video? That would be a workaround for me.

Thanks.

@vipinmalik,

sure it is, navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Addons > Embeds admin page, uncheck the "Youtube" form options.

Well, I don't want to turn this off for the entire site. Embedding YouTube videos in other posts is useful. I would like to turn this functionality off for videos that I want to start at a particular time and only post links to those.

It will be convenient if you can fix the issue where the &t=nnn start time in the URL is not stripped off in the first place. I would imagine that would be a useful feature for all.

ok @vipinmalik,

I'm going to ask this question to plugin developers. I'll let you know once I get a response from them.

Hi @vipinmalik,

wpForo embeds allow embedding the video in a simple way. So you just need copy and paste the URL from the browser address bar. In this case, the add-on is doing its job fine without any issue.

In case of the youtube.com if you copy and paste the URL form youtube.com there is no any  &t=nnn at the end of URL.

Please leave here examples of URLs that you've tried to embeds. We'll need full paths.

We've tried to get such URL from youtube. We've done some steps and the URL wasn't changed. We just find the embeds HTML code. The code can be added and embedded without the plugin. In this case, the main goal of the add-on will be lost. I mean the simple embedding by copy/past of URL.

If you click "Share" on a youtube video, there is a checkbox that you can click that says "start at" (to start at the current location in the video when you clicked share). This addes the &t=nnn which is being discarded.

Here is an example. The URL I'm pasting is actually (I've added a space between each char so that you can see the original URL):

h t t p s : / / y o u t u . b e / C z t i I 0 r e 5 E o ? t = 3 1 0

 Dear @vipinmalik

Please update the wpForo Embeds add-on to the latest version (v. 1.3.2) and check again.

I don't see the plugin showing an update is available in the wp.

(Ah, I had to manually tell WP to refresh and then it found it.)

Perfect. It works as expected now. Fantastic support folks! Loved it. Thank you.
