When someone pastes a link to a website I would like to display the preview image to that link (instead of just the url). Will this plugin achieve that?

For example: https://wpforo.com/community only displays the link.

When I post that same url in different community software it looks like the attached:

wpforo link preview

Hi,

In this website, the 'Embed Website URLs' option is disabled, so URLs are not embedded.

Below, you can see how it functions when the option is enabled

I see. However, it doesn't appear to work well with all sites

@freedman

Could you please provide us the URL where we can see the issue?

@astgh it's on a client site behind a paywall so I cannot share publicly. However, I believe this is easily replicated even here if you enable the plugin.

@astgh btw, when I used the WPForo link it displayed the image exactly like your screenshot. Looks like certain pages it fails to grab images for sites.

wpForo Embeds "only" uses the image listed in the meta tag

<meta property="og:image"....

Example wpForo

<meta property="og:image" content="https://wpforo.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/wpforo-logo.png" />

CNN doesn't use <meta property="og:image" ...., so no image is displayed.

@tutrix ok, got it.

@astgh Any plans on updating it? Seems pretty standard to be able to display similar to how BuddyBoss (and other sites) do. Especially for a paid plugin.
