the User Notifications are a bit off it seems. Basically there are two issue:
1.) Once a user who I've subscribed to makes a comment, I get notified twice.
2.) Whenever a user mentions me with @ , no notification is fired although the setting for this is activated. Also one should know that the User & Comment Mentioning Addon is also installed.
Please have a look at the screenshots. Yes, I tried both Ajax & REST.
Please send the admin login details with some testing user's login details to info[at]gvectors.com email address.
It was a configuration issue within the settings. The 'Enable User Mentioning' option was disabled under 'Subscription and User Following.' We've since enabled it, and everything is now functioning correctly.

Thank you for looking this up! Yes, the user mentioning feature has been disabled by men because it showed the nicenames. However, I did hide them now with CSS.
However, the first issue still remains. See the second Screenshot (same notification pops up twice).
