I've disabled other plugins, and consulted the browser code just to triple-check that I'm looking at the wpDiscuz content. I've tried commenting on a post in two tabs on FireFox, Safari, and Chrome - no dice. So it's probably an issue with implementation on my (shared hosting) server.
