I have noticed the pending comments show up on the post page with the alert of " Comment awaiting moderation" but unfortunately the comment can be read before it is moderated. Is there a way to hide pending comments on the post so no one can see the comments before moderation?

wpDiscuz doesn't show pending comments on front-end, even to administrators. Make sure you've removed all caches. And remove that comment. Then test it again.
