No, you can test add-ons without purchasing.

You just need to register in the wpForo Addons Demo Forum forum. After registration, you'll be able to test wpForo paid add-on.

I have the same problem.  I have 2 addons that I would like to update in my test site, before upgrading on my live site.  I need to download the update package so I can test it.  I don't want to install new software on a live site without testing it.  My license key is active.  How can I get an update package to install & test on my development/test site?

The plugins are available on your gVectors account page, so you can download the plugin from the account page install on your test website, make all tests. The just update the add-ons on your live website if you like the new features of the addons.
