Hi Gvectors Team,

I am loving the auto-embed add-on for wpForo. It works great when I view a post with YouTube video links on my MacBook Pro, but on my iPhone, the videos don't show up and they just have a blank space with the link to the YouTube video page. Here's an example page https://countryguitaronline.com/community/general-discussion/favorite-pickin-vids-%f0%9f%a4%99/

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Devin

Hi @devin,

This is a specific issue that comes from the Chrome browser. When you copy the URL from Chrome address bar it adds extra <a>tags in URL. If you copy and paste the same link from the Firefox browser it'll be displayed in the iPhone devices as well. Please check it to make sure.

The workaround is using the "paste as text" button before inserting the youtube link from the Chrome browser. See the screenshot below:

@elvina Thanks Elvina. I see now... it does paste as a link in Chrome. Since the members on my website are posting videos from YouTube, I'm having to go in and manually edit each of their posts so the videos will show up. Long term, I don't think I'll be able to keep up with this. Is there a way to add a line of js to the auto-embed addon that will make Chrome paste as plain text into that particular forum input? https://stackoverflow.com/questions/12027137/javascript-trick-for-paste-as-plain-text-in-execcommand Not sure if something like this would work, but it would be great if the pasting as plain text could be automated so the forum admins don't have to manually update. Keep me posted. Thanks! - Devin

@devin,

This will be fixed in the near future releases.
