I have a WordPress instance using wpDiscuz to handle commenting. We are hosted with WordPress VIP (Automattic's enterprise hosting service).
I have followed all the advice listed in this post ( https://gvectors.com/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/comment-subscription-and-notification-dont-work/) and am still unable to receive emails as the administrator of the site when new comments are made.
I have tested with new IPs, users, and even in our test environment. I have confirmed all settings in wpDiscuz and WordPress are as described. In Settings > Discussion > Both "Anyone posts a comment" and "A comment is held for moderation" are checked under "Email me whenever". The settings "Before a comment appears" are both unchecked.
I receive emails for all other functions of the site as expected. From WordPress Core, to other plugins – including wpDiscuz! So I know the email function of my hosting/server are working as intended.
- When new users are created (WordPress core)
- When passwords are changed (WordPress core)
- When users fill out a contact form (Jetpack form)
- Email subscriptions (Jetpack module)
- When articles are submitted for review (PublishPress)
- When articles are published (PublishPress)
- When mentions are made in a comment (wpDiscuz)
- When comments are made to an article I published (wpDiscuz)
I believe there is something interfering with this function of comments, perhaps in wpDiscuz. As you can imagine it is important for me to know when comments are made so I can ensure they follow our community rules and provide a healthy experience for our readers. I'm happy to provide more information or access to my test instance for troubleshooting. Please advise.
