Hello I purchased wpForo - User Custom Fields addon so that end user could populate Display Name and Nickname upon registration. After registration Display Name and Nickname are set to the username?

Note that I also added first name and last name fields to registration form and account page. First Name and Lastname fields work (carry over from registration) but Display Name and Nickname are set to Username instead of what was entered into the registration form.

Hi @kenneth-fernandes,

Got to Dashboard > Forums > Members Fields > Registration Form Tab, in the Registration form insert Display Name and Nickname fields, these fields are light blue, have red star at the end and cannot be managed, these are created by the addon, then press save changes button.

Now, the user's Display Name and Nickname can be set in the Registration form. They won't get changed until the user changes it from his account page.

@kylew This is precisely what I did but after the user populates them on the registration page and submits they are not set to what user populated but instead are set to the username.

@kenneth-fernandes,

Try disabling other plugins you have on your website, except wpForo and UCF Addon, then create a new User with different Username, Display Name and Nick Name.

If the problem will be solved, that means that you have a plugin which overwrites on those fields.

de-activated all plugins except wpforo and ucf addon. Same problem. See screenshots. I entered Charlie Testingit as Display Name and charlietestingit as Nickname (handle) and after registration what I entered for Username (ctestingit) showed up under account for Display Name and Nickname. In wordpress again all was correct except display name publicly was set to username.

@kylew

Also here are some screenshots. First is what I put in registration form, second is what shows up under account after registration (First Name and Last Name is correct but Display Name and Nick Name (Handle) are set wrongly to username) and third from wordpress dashboard (where First Name, Last Name, and Nickname are correct however the display name publicly again is wrongly set to login name).

@kenneth-fernandes,

do you have any customization on wpForo, addon, theme or snippet, hook?

@kylew No other addons besides User Custom Fields. Theme is classic that came with it. No other snippets or hooks. Just settings configured in the GUI and some css.

@kylew I have confirmed it now works correctly. Can you please advise what the issue was and how it was fixed (upgraded version of plugin with fix, hand patch, configuration issue fixed, something else)? Also if a software fix if I should upgrade to a new version of the plugin in the future should I expect it to be fixed in that new version or will I have to wait to upgrade to a particular issue?

@kenneth-fernandes,

the issue was related with wpForo Email confirmation option, this issue will be fixed in wpForo 2.0 version, you can update and UCF addon and wpForo plugin after new version releases.
