Hi, I appreciate all the changes you all made for GDPR, but I'm wondering about a site owner's ability to pick and choose which features to implement.

For example, can the ability for Guests to delete all their comments be turned off? Or is it a default that we can't modify?

Some sites use comments for purposes where that might need to be retained. Or site owners would at least need to be aware of and verify the deletion request to ensure data isn't required for legal or other legitimate reasons (Article 6).

As you say yourself in your documentation about the Right to be Erased, "The right is not absolute and only applies in certain circumstances." Some site owners may prefer to require commenters to request deletion through them so this determination may be made, rather than allowing commenters to delete things behind the site owner's backs.

Can you let me know what our options are for the new GDPR features? Thanks!!!

P.S. Still loving the plugin! 🙂

Hi JamiGold,

Please find my answers below:

For example, can the ability for Guests to delete all their comments be turned off? Or is it a default that we can't modify?

The only way is disabling the "My Content and Settings" button using according option in Comments > Settings > Comment Form tab. The doc: https://wpdiscuz.com/docs/wpdiscuz-documentation/settings/comment-form/#components

Some sites use comments for purposes where that might need to be retained.

The email content says that all actions cannot be undone. So the person who click on delete link in email already noticed that he/she cannot ask for retaining his/her comments.

Or site owners would at least need to be aware of and verify the deletion request to ensure data isn't required for legal or other legitimate reasons (Article 6).

This is already taken under consideration. We'll probably add this in near future releases.
