since the upgrade to version 7, all the html tags (ie. <p> <span> <br> are showing in the comment notifications email, making them hard to read.
Can you please advise how this can be reverted to normal readable text?

Hi @dano,
This does not have any relation to the wpDiscuz. It seems the email server does not support the HTML tags. It will be better if you contact your email server support and let them know about the issue.
Also I'll suggest to install some SMTP plugin for Wordpress with debug and extended logs and check. Below is provided the good SMTP plugin examples, please check it:

Thanks for those thoughts.
However, we made no changes to the email or server - this issue only happened immediately after the update of wp discuz. So my question is; is the new version of wp discuz different in how it sends or formats the emails?
It seems unlikely to be a coincidence.

Regarding your question, we did not change anything in the format of sending emails.
