Hi,
I can't seem to turn moderation off no matter what I do. I use your forum and advanced attachments on another site with no problems. Need some suggestions! Brand new site on 4.8 with twenty seventeen.

Only new registered users' topic and posts are being unapproved if wpForo Spam Control suspects some spam. New users are the users who has less number of posts as it's set in this option (Dashboard > Forums > Tools):
I don't recommend to turn of the moderation. It's better and secure to do following:
1.Decrease New User detection level to 1 or 2 using the setting mentioned in screenshot
2. Install Aksimet to make more intuitive spam detection,
3. Then decrease the topic and post suspicion levels:
- Spam Suspicion Level for Topics - 15
- Spam Suspicion Level for Posts - 15
However in case you're sure you don't have spam users and content, you can disable moderation by setting "No" the "Enable wpForo Spam Control" option on the same admin page.
