Could you please let us know if the wpForo User Custom Fields addon is installed on your website? If so, please deactivate the addon and check again.

I have solved it in the meantime. My assumption was that it was due to the user rights. Three users in the chat were admins, and one of them was not an admin. I gave him admin rights and then it worked. But that's not what I would like. From my point of view, users with different authorisations are allowed to communicate with each other.

@astgh Nothing is hidden for him. And if he wants to display his private messages with the path site/participant/user/messages/, the message "You do not have permission to view this page." Although he has admin rights.

Could you please ask the user if he/she has pressed the hide button in the conversation?

If the button is clicked, the conversation will no longer be visible to the user. However, they will still be able to access it via the link provided in the email content.
