I just bought the Search addon and it works great overall. Can you point me to any info on options for customizing the shortcode version of the form, ? I've placed it on a page, and it works, but I'm hoping to accomplish a couple of things, basically all boils down to are there action hooks / filters for this plugin specifically, or any way to modify the display templates:

Add a more prominent More link, or ideally link the whole search result.

Add a Reply button or link to each result, that would link directly to the reply section of that comment.

Start with empty results till something is typed, the default seems to spit everything out and it's a little overwhelming!

There's more that I'd like to do, but I'll start there, maybe it's possible to add a template in the child theme for results, or use a WP filter in functions.php?

Thanks!

I'm not finding anything in the documentation or settings that would be causing the search box not to be appearing. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I have an online academy. In each of the lessons (which are CPTs), I have activated wordpress comments below, which in turn are replaced by the wpdiscuz design/system. So my students can ask questions of each of the lessons. In each of those "forums", they use the "search" addon that wpdiscuz incorporates, to search for keywords in the comments of that lesson. So far perfect.

But now, I've created a page where I can embed a search engine so students can search for keywords in ALL the academy comments. After going crazy trying to find a solution, I've discovered that while wpdiscuz doesn't use shortcodes for this purpose, it does incorporate a "search comments widget" that can be added to the sidebars.

But finally I have been able to add it as a widget at the end of a post, which I will use as if it were a page. And it worked perfect.

But I need 2 things:

1 . By default, before searching for any keyword, it shows the first 5 comments. How can I make it display for example 10?

2 . When searching for a keyword, the results show avatar author , author name, lesson title (+ link) and an excerpt from the comment. How can I make that excerpt not only show the beginning of the comment and an elpipsis type "..." but rather show the part of the comment where the keyword appears with its "Highlight search text in live results"? Even, How can you configure the number of words in the excerpt?

I guess tweaking functions or css, or something... yes, it could not?

I appreciate the help on these two questions.

Thank you !

Hi folks,

We recently added the comment search add-on and now the Font Awesome icons that are managed by our theme are not displaying correctly or consistently.

I looked through the support forums here and tried this fix, but it is not consistent for us: https://gvectors.com/forum/postid/13021/

I saw this post from gVectors support in February 2019 that the issue with the Comment Search add-on would be fixed, but maybe it hasn't been yet? https://gvectors.com/forum/postid/13576/

Here is what the support folks for our theme developer told us:

No it is not happening because of the version of FontAwesome . It is happening because of the naming conflict of the font family. The theme names it FontAwesome and the plugin uses: "Font Awesome 5 Free". If this case there is nothing much we can do. If you change the name in any of the two places, the action will break the other.

Do you have any suggestions? This is super frustrating and there must be a work-around solution somehow.
