Hi guys,

wonderful work. but a very important question regarding wpforo and wpdiscuz translation-readiness.

i have a site in english and chinese. how can i have the forum available in both languages (at least front-end translated in chinese).

i am using WPML but there's no info about WPML and WPForo or WPDiscuz interworkings.

can you suggest something or a way to have the form in another language.

also i see .pot file for wpforo. is there any chinese translation available (.po file)?

thanks

If you have both language files wpForo will be automatically translated when you change the website language. Check the /wpforo/wpf-languages/ folder and make sure it has the languages you want. In case there isn't you can translate and put the translation files to this folder. It would be better to send those us to allow us put those in wpForo core. In this way you'll not lost translation files.

There are several methods to create a translation, most of which are outlined in the WordPress Codex. In most cases you can contribute to the project on translate.wordpress.org, however for creating custom translations, we find the easiest method is to use a plugin called Loco Translate.

More info how to translate is in doc: https://wpforo.com/docs/root/translation/translate-using-pot-file/

The same with wpDiscuz. Just navigate to Dashboard > Comments > Settings admin page and check the "Use PO / Mo Files" option. Also you should create separate comment form for each language in Dashboard > Comments > Forms admin page.

thanks for the reply but i am still not clear from the answer above. asking specific questions:

1) suppose i have .mo file for wpforo (chinese translation).

i have a website (one installation of wordpress only). the default language is Eng. I am using WPML to also have the Chinese version of the same Eng. site. can i assume that Forum will be automatically translated to Chinese (because of the .mo file presence) if I switch to Chinese version (via WPML)?

2) does WPForo support string translation of WPML and other features?

3) do you have any timeline of when WPForo will be compatible with WPML (if it's not already).

Not being able to have a Chinese version of my site (using WPML) will be disappointing as i have made several purchases of Adons thinking these plugins (Foro and Discuz) are WPML compatible.

hope you guys can help.

regards

Yes, sure, just make sure you use the correct Chine Language, there are two types of Chine. Make sure you have wpForo translation for the correct Chine Language.

I'm sorry but I don't know, this is WPML function, not wpForo.

3) do you have any timeline of when WPForo will be compatible with WPML (if it's not already).

wpForo is compatible with all multi language plugins, it changes the forum language according to WordPress language. This is I mean saying compatible. You just need to have all language translation files for wpForo which you use in website.

If you got a certain problem just let us know. But please note, we don't support translations. We can't translation plugins. You can check these plugins' available translation files before buying any addon. wpForo and wpDiscuz are free. You can thest those as long as you want.
