Hello.

So I was wondering if you could add some new modern emoticons packs to the addon because there current one look really out of date.

If you can, also please create a short youtube walkthrough video on how to import our own icons.

Also, some other enhancements:

- Show the instantly when pressed instead of showing code, for example   : wink :

- Close the emoticon box when one emoticon is pressed and placed inside the comment box

- Change the default emoticon appearing in WPDiscuz ( "wpdiscuz_smil_icon-0_0" ) to something else or custom and also add color to it, on hover as well.

Please let me know.
Thanks!

Hi Catmaniax,

If you can, also please create a short youtube walkthrough video on how to import our own icons.

To create a new Smiles package, please follow this instruction:

  • 1.  Create “wpdiscuz” folder in WordPress /wp-content/ directory
  • 2.  Create “emoticons” folder in WordPress /wp-content/wpdiscuz/ directory
  • 3.  Choose a unique name for your new package and create a folder using this name in /wp-content/wpdiscuz/emoticons/ directory. For example “mysmiles“, the end directory will be /wp-content/wpdiscuz/emoticons/mysmiles/
  • 4.  Copy all files from /wp-content/plugins/wpdiscuz-emoticons/emoticons/ directory to /wp-content/wpdiscuz/emoticons/mysmiles/
  • 5.  Change the new package demonstration icon mysmiles/icon.png, but do not rename it.
  • 6.  Delete all images in mysmiles/img/ folder and upload your new emoticons images.
  • 7.  Open mysmiles/wpsmiliestrans.php file and change new image names for according emoticons’ code.
  • 8.  Then come back to this page and find the emoticons package switcher.

- Show the instantly when pressed instead of showing code, for example   : wink :

There is no way to display emoticons on a simple textarea. wpDiscuz editor is a text editor it's not a rich editor.

- Close the emoticon box when one emoticon is pressed and placed inside the comment box

This will not work for users who add multiple emoticons.

- Change the default emoticon appearing in WPDiscuz ( "wpdiscuz_smil_icon-0_0" ) to something else or custom and also add color to it, on hover as well.

I'm sorry I didn't follow you, where you see that?

Hello!

So, is there any chance on adding new modern icons built-in inside the addon after all in a future update?

Please let me know.
Thanks!

I'm sorry but we don't have such plan yet. This addon is like a tool to allow you use any moder icon you want. If we add some new icons some users may say it's not modern, some other may say it's cool. So it's better if you find the best icon for you and add in addon as described in my last post.
