Support Request – WP Discuz Voting Issue and Forum Ban

Good morning,

On April 24, 2026, I opened a topic on the WP Discuz support forum regarding a serious issue: suddenly, new comments can no longer be voted on, while older comments still can.

The discussion was then made private, and one of your operators asked me for additional information.

However, on April 26, I discovered that I had been banned from the forum. Because of this, I can no longer read your operator’s reply, and I still do not know the reason for the ban, since I have not violated any forum rules.

I have sent several emails about this matter, but unfortunately I have not received any response so far.

I purchased WP Discuz and its addons despite the difficulties involved, considering that my website is non-profit and completely free of advertising. If I continue to receive no support or communication, I will unfortunately have to request a refund and remove the plugin from my site.

I have been using WP Discuz for years and regularly purchase new addons every year, so this situation is very disappointing.

Comment form visibility for a custom WordPress role

Hello wpDiscuz Support,

We are experiencing an issue with comment form visibility for a custom WordPress role.

Environment:

WordPress
Elementor Pro
wpDiscuz
Members plugin
Custom role: k_member

Problem:
Users with the custom role k_member can see the comments area and are recognized as logged-in users, but the wpDiscuz comment editor/form does not appear.

Administrators can comment normally.

What we checked:

Comments are enabled on the post (Open for comments is checked).
wpDiscuz is active and working correctly for admins.
The custom role has the basic read capability.
In:
wpDiscuz → User Roles and Badges
the role k_member is enabled under:
“Show comment form for post types”.
The issue occurs on newly created posts as well.
The user is logged in successfully and wpDiscuz recognizes the user name in the comments area.
We checked for obvious Elementor visibility conditions and did not find any.

Current behavior:

Logged-in custom-role users see:
“You are logged in as…”
and the comments counter.
But the actual comment textarea/editor is missing.

Question:
Does wpDiscuz require additional capabilities or configuration for custom roles created with the Members plugin?
Is there a known limitation or compatibility issue with custom roles and comment form visibility?

Error 404 for subscribers using private messaging

ON my new site admins are able to use PM between them but when users try to use the same function they get a 404 page not found when they click a members name to be able to message them. Can you tell me what setting is preventing them from see the other members profile to make a private message?

I should add that I am unable to find any settings for Private Messaging in the WPForo settings at all. It doesn't event come up when I do a search using the search bar.

sorry I spoke too soon, the CSS you provided yesterday although sorted out the featured image gap at the top of the wpforo post, it introduced all manner of weird truncated post boxes. I only spotted this today, some examples.

White space on forum due to featured image

Hi,

I have a problem on all my Blog-Cross posts. The blog post has a feature image set and as expected this displays OK on the blog. However, the cross-linked post on the forum ends up with a large gap where the set featured image would be.

Try as I might I cannot figure how to remove the gap on the forum with css. I've searched this site and also cannot find it. Any ideas on how to resolve would be greatly appreciated.

Examples below, first shows the blog post with the featured image, the second shows the resulting forum cross post with the ugly gap at the top.

Spinning dots on message panel when trying to use private messaging

I have just installed Private messaging and find that I cannot find a way to use the @username like I see it showing as it does here on my forum shown below.

Hi everyone,

We’ve been experimenting with turning wpDiscuz comment voting into something more meaningful than just static like/dislike numbers, and ended up building a custom system that adds real-time “status” badges to comments based on engagement.

The idea was simple:
If votes exist, they should say something.

So instead of just showing counts, comments now get labels like:

🔥 TRENDING
🧨 EXPLODING
🚨 CONTROVERSIAL
💀 RATIO’D
🗂️ ARCHIVED HOT

These are calculated from:

total votes
like vs dislike ratio
recency of votes

And then injected into the frontend dynamically.

What it does:

Logs every wpDiscuz vote into a custom database table
Imports existing vote totals from comment meta (wpdiscuz_votes_seperate)
Calculates engagement states per comment
Adds visual badges above comments in real-time
Highlights “hot” comments visually
Optionally pins the hottest comment at the top
Sends alerts when a comment gets heavily downvoted

Hi,

I've spent ages looking and I cannot find the answer, it's possible I'm just being stupid.

is there a short code for wpDiscuz that I can insert into a wordpress page, that will list all the comments.

All I want to do is have a " Recent Blog Comments" page where members can go where they can instantly see all the comments and click to the one they find interesting. Great if it was paginated or I could state recent xx as in number of.

Media Uploader plugin won't update

I've been using the Media Uploader plugin for years, re-purchasing multiple licenses, which I just did again today. Entered my new product key but the plugin still won't update, with the WP Plugin Update page returning: An error occurred while updating wpDiscuz - Media Uploader: Update package not available

Tried the "Updates>Check Again" refresh hack several times but the error message persists. Please advise next steps.
